What Is Python.exe?

Peter Doyle  -  January 4, 2022  -  ,

Python is an easy-to-learn, powerful programming language. It has efficient high-level data structures and a simple but effective approach to object-oriented programming. Its elegant syntax and dynamic typing, together with its interpreted nature, make it an ideal language for scripting and rapid application development in many areas on most platforms.

Python.exe is a file that developers can use to launch applications and programs and make changes to your system without entering through the command prompt window. This executable appears under Python 2.7.14 in ActiveState Komodo Edit's list of processes owned by Python Software Foundation.

We all know that the .exe extension means executable files, these types of files can be risky if they're not from trusted sources. For example, malware or viruses might use this method to spread themselves around your computer system without you even knowing. That's why before running an unknown program on our laptops, we should check for updates first (and always make sure there aren't any weird icons popping up unexpectedly).

To determine whether the file is legit or not, you’ll have to check the location of the Pyton.exe file. If the file is located in a subfolder in C:\Program Files, the security rating is 60% dangerous. To check the legitimacy of the application, you can start the Task Manager, then click on the columns field and add Verified Signer as one of the columns. Now focus on the Verified Signer value for python.exe. If the process says “Unable to verify,” the file may be a virus.

If the software developer is legitimate, like in this instance Python Software Foundation, then it is not a virus or malware. If the developer is not listed or something feels suspicious, you can remove the file using the uninstall program from the control panel or the search bar.
